Armchair BEA Day #3 - Real Life Networking?

It's Day #3 of Armchair BEA - Networking - In Real Life!

Today's Armchair BEA topic is real life networking. Unfortunately this is not something I've been able to do, because I live so far away from everyone *sniff*. So instead, I'm going to talk about one of my favourite new-ish social networking sites - Formspring!

If you don't know what Formspring is, the idea is that you can ask other members questions about anything and everything and receive responses from whoever is in your 'network', or ask other members questions directly. It's a great way if you're shy (like me!), to ask a question without feeling like you are stalking someone - people only answer the questions that they want to.

Unlike Twitter you don't need to keep an eye on your interactions or email to find answers, everything is displayed on your front page, so it's easy to keep track, and also read other people's responses - it's great for getting information on things you may never even have THOUGHT of asking.

There is a character limit of 255 on questions, but as far as I can tell there's no character limit on answers, so it's much more versatile than Twitter in that respect.

And it's fun - you can really see people's personalities in their questions and answers. So if you haven't tried Formspring yet, give it a go! And if you'd like to follow me on Formspring, you can find me here: http://www.formspring.me/TheAussieZombie, or let me know and I'll follow you!

  2. I have a formspring. I enjoy it but I don't really get a lot of questions so it doesn't really get to see a lot of use. I won't deny running around asking anonymous questions...I won't deny it :) Glad you can have a lot of fun with it though. I am not hooked on it enough to say that I would give up twitter or anything for it.

  4. It sucks when living far away! I wish I could attend so much of the awesomeness going on. o: But at least we have internet, right? ;) Lol

I actually just created a formspring myself, but I haven't really used it. The only thing I've done is to read answers and smile at them, haha. I'm too scared to answer them still x) I think I feel a bit awkward, but then again, I do with everything new. I think it's a great way to get answers though! Plus you can always have a little fun with random questions. ;)

  5. Formspring is fun and give an awesome chance to interact with people! Plus you get asked the silliest questions at times. They make me smile!

  8. I definitely thinking about getting a Formspring account! I'm kind of shy, like you, so I think this would be such a great way for me to ask questions to other bloggers! Lovely post. =)
