Expected Publication: 8 January 2013 by Hyperion

Pages: 336 (hardcover)

Genre/s: Young Adult, Mystery

Synopsis

Rory Miller had one chance to fight back and she took it. Rory survived… and the serial killer who attacked her escaped. Now that the infamous Steven Nell is on the loose, Rory must enter the witness protection with her father and sister, Darcy, leaving their friends and family without so much as a goodbye.

Starting over in a new town with only each other is unimaginable for Rory and Darcy. They were inseparable as children, but now they can barely stand each other. As the sisters settle in to Juniper Landing, a picturesque vacation island, it seems like their new home may be just the fresh start they need. They fall in with a group of beautiful, carefree teens and spend their days surfing, partying on the beach, and hiking into endless sunsets. But just as they’re starting to feel safe again, one of their new friends goes missing. Is it a coincidence? Or is the nightmare beginning all over again?

Why I'm Waiting

I don't read that many mysteries, but there's a serial killer!! I hope this has lots of delicious creepiness.

What are you waiting on?

  1. I love that cover! Shadowlands sounds like a thrilling mystery. But how horrifying would it be to hear that the serial killer that has attacked you has escaped!

  5. I have a weird obsession with serial killers... I know, it's morbid. I've been waiting for this one for a while now and I am so happy it's less than a month away from release! The cover is one of my favorites.

  7. I wanted this one too but Disney doesn't accept NetGalley requests from bloggers so I didn't even try. I wish they'd change their stance but, when I asked several months ago, a representative said they were unlikely to do so anytime soon.

I still try when it's one I want really badly because they do occasionally make mistakes---I got The Darkest Minds that way---or maybe they just throw crumbs to the masses sometimes ;-)

  8. I saw this on Netgalley a while back and forgot to check into it, but since Disney doesn't take blogger requests I didn't bother requesting. :(
It certainly does look like a good mystery though, I haven't read many with the serial killer angle so that proves to be interesting.
