Top Ten Tuesday: 2013 Debuts I'm Looking Forward To

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. I heart lists!

Being Henry David by Cal Armistead

Expected Publication: 1 March 2013 by Albert Whitman Teen

Why: A contemporary mystery where the main character has amnesia, AND it's in male POV!

PODs by Michelle K. Pickett

Expected Publication: 4 June 2013 by Spencer Hill Press

Why:  post-apocalyptic, dystopian and what sounds like most probably zombies.  Yeah!

Taken (Taken #1) by Erin Bowman

Expected Publication: 16 April 2013 by HarperTeen

Why: Another PA / Dystopian but this time from a male POV - hurrah!  And it's prrrrrrreeetty!

In the Shadow of Blackbirds by Cat Winter

Expected Publication: 2 April 2013 by Amulet Books

Why: WWI historical fiction and a viral apocalypse - yep I HAVE to read this one!

Linked by Imogen Howson

Expected Publication: 11 June 2013 by Simon & Schuster

Why: A mix of paranormal and dystopian and shallowness of shallow, it's pretty!

Dualed (Dualed #1) by Elsie Chapman

Expected Publication: 26 February 2013 by Random House

Why: It's another dystopian and the main character sounds awesome.

Pivot Point (Pivot Point #1) by Kasie West

Expected Publication: 12 February 2013 by HarperTeen

Why: A mash-up of paranormal and science fiction, plus the advance reviews I've read are really really positive!

In the After by Demitria Lunetta

Expected Publication: 25 June 2013 by HarperTeen

Why: Surprise, surprise, it's another post-apocalyptic/dystopian this time with monsters that sound suspiciously zombie-like.

Some Quiet Place by Kelsey Sutton
Expected Publication: 8 July 2013 by Flux

Why: This sounds like a paranormaly-fantasy thingy, but I'm going to be honest, I just love the cover.

The Ward by Jordana Frankel

Expected Publication: 30 April 2013 by Katherine Tegan Books

Why: Yep, another post-apocalyptic dystopian - I'm in danger of a serious OD here!

What's on your top ten this week?  Any that are on my list too?

  1. Psh Dualed sounds pretty badass and I can't wait to read In the Shadow of Blackbirds. I just added Being Henry David to my TBR list. I am a sucker for contemporary and male POV!

  2. Man oh man I could just stare at the cover for The Quiet Place all day long. I had things to say about the books before it and then I saw that cover and melted. It is so damn pretty in a weird haunting way.

  4. Just got approved for an e-ARC on Edelweiss if you wanted to try there for Taken (http://edelweiss.abovethetreeline.com)! - Can't wait to read that one & Dualed! I'm kinda surprised that Linked is a standalone - WHAT?! Who woulda thunk it!? In The After sounds awesome - had to add that one in GR & yea, totally agree - love the cover for Some Quiet Place! <3

  5. Ooh, amnesia in not a crazy manga or kdrama plot line. Can I handle it without melodrama attached? WHO KNOWS? I'm skeptical of Being Henry David, because I assume that's a Thoreau reference and UGH Thoreau.

    PODs: Want.

Taken: Reading this now from EW. Okay so far, though strange.

    PIVOT POINT!!!!

Totally forgot about Some Quiet Place. How could I?

  6. I was toying with putting Dualed and Some Quiet Place on mine but I already had so many great ones on the list!

There are some great books up there. I am still in awe of how many great books are coming out this year!

Thanks for stopping by my TTT :-)

  7. I love dystopian/post apocalypic books so I also can't wait for The Ward, In the After and Taken. I have also seen a lot of positive reviews for Pivot Point. Besides that it also sounds like a great mash-up of genres, so I hope I'll love it too when I get to read it :) That cover for Some Quiet Place is gorgeous, totally justified to want it just for the cover alone!
Thanks for stopping by my list!

  14. Holy cow, I haven't really paid that much attention to the new books that are coming out this year - sort of have a goal to read more of "my"books and re-read some old favorites rather than review books; that being said your list looks fabulous! I'm definitely checking all of these out some more! IN the Shadow of Blackbirds is going on my wishlist, that looks amazingtastic, and GHOSTS too!
Being Henry David sounds fascinating - like a modern homage to Walden, and like you I LOVE male POV's, we never get enough good ones! I'm super intrigued with the amnesia, another one for the wishlist!
PODs sounds creepy as hell and very delicious :D
Taken sounds unputdownable too.. geez, this whole list is going on the wishlist! See what you've done to me! :D

  18. I know that I'm a month late commenting hear, but I'm so excited to read The Ward. Of course, I might be a little biased because the author was my college roommate, but still... I'm so excited for it, and really hope she doesn't let me down!
