Top Ten Tuesday: Auto-Buy Authors

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. I heart lists!

I actually found this a really difficult list to write, because I don't necessarily buy everything that an author that I love writes - but I always add them to my wishlist and stalk them (the books, not the authors, 'cos stalking people is creepy)!

And once I had written the list, I didn't know how to express how much I love these authors, other than to make statistics out of it!

David Levithan - Of 11 books, I've got 6 either already owned or wish-listed.
Obsession rating: 55%

Mark Tufo - Of 14 books, I've got 8 either already owned or wish-listed.
Obsession rating: 57%

Tabitha Suzuma - Of 6 books, I've got 4 either already owned or wish-listed.
Obsession rating: 67%

Gayle Forman - Of 6 books, I've got 4 either already owned or wish-listed.
Obsession rating: 67%

Kendare Blake - Of 4 books, I've got 3 either already owned or wish-listed.
Obsession rating: 75%

Jonathan Maberry - Of 18 books, I've got 14 either already owned or wish-listed.
Obsession rating 77%

Rhiannon Frater - Of 14 books, I've got 11 either already owned or wish-listed.
Obsession rating: 79%

David Moody - Of 10 books, I've got 9 either already owned or wish-listed.
Obsession rating: 90%

John Green - Of 5 books, I've got 5 either already owned or wish-listed.
Obsession rating: 100%

Gillian Flynn - Of 3 books, I've got 3 either already owned or wish-listed.
Obsession rating: 100%

OK, I know this isn't really a scientific method, but it was fun.

Who are your auto-buy (or obsession!) authors?

  1. LOL! Stalking authors would be creepy, but not what they are getting to ready to publish. Gillian Flynn is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.

  2. There is a need for some sort of weighted average here. When you own 14 books of one author, and three of another, the greater total shouldn't be that much lower.

If you owned all of Tolkein's works I would think that you liked Tolkein. But if you owned all the Hardy Boy Books? That would raise an eyebrow!

  6. Umm, I LOOOOVE your obsession rating! It's genius! I'd have to put David Levithan, Maggie Stiefvater and Libba Bray on mine. Oh, oh, oh! And J.L. Bourne and Dan Wells because everything I've read thus far has been amazingness.

  7. This is a fun way of figuring out which authors you are most obsessed with, I never thought of doing it that way. I just got Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl from the library, looking forward to starting it!

  9. John Green is awesome! I read Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake and loved it, but I want to check out a couple more of her books before adding her to my auto-buy radar. Great list!

  13. I really like how you put your own twist on this post with the statistics. I have an obsession with Gillian Flynn it seems as well. I feel disgusting after reading her books... they are so gritty ... but they are so intense. It honestly boggles my mind how she comes up with this stuff, and it gets more and more effed up, lol. Great list :D

  16. I really, really loved the way you did your list by statistics. That is an awesome idea for this topic. I wish it was something that could be adapted into a feature. You should do it and I wish I had thought of it!

As for your list, I definitely need to catch up on these authors, but Jonathan Maberry is a bad ass even though I've only read one of his books!
