Top Ten Series I'd Like To Start But Haven't Yet

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. I heart lists!

Ah series - there's so many of them, it's hard to make time to even START new series, let alone get through them.  But it doesn't stop me from buying them....

Across the Universe by Beth Revis
Across the Universe A Million Suns & Shades of Earth
Everything about the synopsis and reviews tells me I'd probably love this series, but the first book is long and that turns me off for some reason.

The Enemy by Charlie Higson
The Enemy, The Dead, The Fear and The Sacrifice.
IT'S ZOMBIES!  I should read this asap, and I have the first three books already.

Everneath by Brodie Ashton
Everneath & Everbound
Honestly, I bought the first book because it looks pretty - but the reviews are also pretty good and the synopsis is intriguing.  I did read a few pages once and then realised I had other books I needed to read first, so back on the shelf it went.

The Giver Quartet by Lois Lowry
The Giver, Gathering Blue, Messenger and Son
Dude, these books are SHORT - there's NO reason why I shouldn't have started this series, none!

Legend by Marie Lu
Legend and Prodigy
I bought Legend as soon as it came out - but never got started with it.  And now Prodigy is released too, I could read them back-to-back!

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
Cinder and Scarlet
I fell in cover-lust with Cinder from the moment I saw it, and even pre-ordered it - and despite all the love it's gotten from bloggers, I'm still behind....

The Newsflesh Trilogy by Mira Grant
Feed, Deadline & Blackout
I did try reading Feed once, but I think my expectations were all wrong.  But I definitely want to try this series again, this time with a more open mind.

Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles
Perfect Chemistry, Rules of Attraction & Chain Reaction
Sometimes I feel that everyone else in the world has read at least Perfect Chemistry, and I want to see what all the hype is about!

Shatter Me by Tahareh Mafi
Shatter Me & Unravel Me
I wasn't really sold on the first book when I saw it, and then I saw some awesome reviews so I bought a copy of Shatter Me.  In my defense  that was only about three months ago ;-)

White Horse by Alex Adams
White Horse & Red Horse
This series has intrigued me from the minute I read the synopsis for White Horse - now I just need to find the time to read it.

Which series are waiting for you to get yourself organised?  Or if you've read any of these, where should I start?

  3. There's a lot on here I need to get to also. I can't believe you haven't read Cinder yet! It was amazing, one of the best fairy tale retellings I've read so far. I also have to read Across the Universe, and I hope to get to Legend soon.

  4. You should def. check out Across the Universe. It's one of my favourite series and yes, I haven't finished it. I still need to read the third book, but damn those cliff-hangers were evil. (Advice; get all of them at once!)

  5. I love Newsflesh! I have her other series (as Seanan McGuire) in my TTT this week though. And I totally didn't realize there was a second Alex Adams due out! WHITE HORSE was one of my absolute favorites. Adding RED HORSE to my wishlist now.

    1. Must read Newsflesh - my reputation is on the line! Great to hear that White Horse was so good, must push it up the list.

  6. It is so hard to make time.

Wait a second. You haven't read the Newsflesh Trilogy. Don't talk to me until you've read those. This is like a crime against zombies. Your Aussie Zombie title is in question until you rectify this gross error.

Also, you would love all of these things, so get on that. BUT NEWSFLESH FIRST.

    1. I hang my head in shame. I shall now call myself The Aussie Not So Zombie in penance.

I did try and read it once, but I got distracted (as per). I will take your comments under strong advisement ;-)

  7. The first two ACROSS THE UNIVERSE books were amazingly fast reads! At least for me. Maybe because they were so good I couldn't put them down! I think I'm reading the final book later today. :D

I've read the first books of EVERNEATH and LUNAR CHRONICLES, and enjoyed them. I actually just picked up their sequels from the library yesterday, too!

I have read Perfect Chemistry and it was okay. I will read the other two, since they might be better. I just didn't care for the main characters of the first book.

Shatter Me was good, but OMG Unravel Me ripped my heart out and stomped all over it!!! And I'd let it happen again and again and again! So gooooood!

  9. I totally need to read Legend, The Lunar Chronicles and The Newsflesh series. I've heard really good things. And OOOOOOOOOOOH MY GOSH, The Giver. Such an amazing book but it's been a long time since I read it. It took forever before I even realized it was part of a series. One of these days I'll have to get back into it.

    1. So many things, so little time! Maybe I should take a speed-reading class.

Or just find some really rich dude to marry so I can stay home and read all day!

    2. I think you're on to something there, Kat. I just might have to join you in that quest (much to my hubby's dismay)!

Oh! Oh! Oh! You totally neeeeeeeeeed to read the final J.L. Bourne book because I'm listening to the audio version now and there are things we MUST discuss!

  10. Some good series you've been missing out on. I'm really surprised you haven't read The Enemy or The Newsflesh trilogy. You should get on that.

  11. Read Shatter Me!!!! It's so good. I need to read Perfect Chemistry!

  13. We have a couple of the same series on our lists. I really want to read Shatter Me and Unravel Me soon, loads of bloggers seem to love the series and it sounds really interesting, so I'll probably be starting it very soon!

  14. After I started blogging I was reading too many series (over 40 when I counted) so I let a majority of them go and limit new ones but I admit I'm starting to get antsy about a few. Especially since a several are wrapping up this year. I can do a weekend read-a-thon!

  15. Across the Universe and The Lunar Chronicles are fantastic. Hope you enjoy them!

    Thanks for stopping in. :)

  18. Ok, I'm very glad to see your list because I'm still to read all those except for Perfect Chemistry which I didn't like enough to continue with the series. On my list (not including those you've already mentioned) are The Hunger Games (I know!), Grave Mercy, Delirium, Black Dagger Brotherhood, Vampire Academy and Obsidian.

  19. You can't even keep up with the comments on book series, little less the books themselves! Give it up! LOL

I now tend to avoid series in general, and rarely go past the first book in any case. It is hard enough to get to all the singles.

  20. I love this list. You need to start the Enemy series like right now. And the Lunar Chronicles. I know you would love them both, Kat. Really and truly.

I'd like to start the Newsflesh series this year. I have book one, I just don't know if I am going to have time. I never have time for anything. So many review books.

  21. I highly recommend the Across the Universe audiobook. That's the only reason why I got around to reading it. I like it as a standalone, so I haven't gotten around to the others.

Everneath was lovely, but not for me. Legend is good. Cinder is fabulous, but I didn't care for Scarlet. I'm the same way about The Giver quartet.

As for Shatter Me, I'm reading it now, and it's not going well. The horniness and teen angst is making me feel stabby. I don't like the bad guy, but I'd almost like for him to kill them all. :-D
