Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Recommend the Most

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. I heart lists!

It takes a lot for me to recommend a book to someone - I'm always pant-weeingly nervous they will hate it and never talk to me again, let alone take another recommendation from me!  So I've broken this weeks list into categories because I like to really know what kind of book someone is looking for before I recommend anything.
Horror Hounds
Under the Dome by Stephen King

First Foray Into Zombies
This is Not a Test by Courtney Summers

Zombies for Veterans
Dead of Night by Jonathan Maberry

Historical Fiction Hoarders
The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons

Post-Apocalyptic All-rounder
Earth Abides by George R. Stewart

Dystopian Distraction
Battle Royale by Koushun Takami

Australian Epics
The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough

My Teen Favourite

Unlikely Romance
Morning Glory by LaVyrle Spencer

Heart-Stomper
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

Which books do you recommend the most?  Any recommendations for me?

  2. Battle Royale is really, really good, isn't it? I just flew through it - it was so exciting. The movie is rather eh, though. I'm surprised that you picked this Stephen King. I felt so let down by the ending ...

    1. Rumour has it, there will be a second book - maybe that will help.

LOVED Battle Royale, I couldn't put it down.

  6. I need to get to more Maberry books, but I should probably read Flesh & Bone before I start a whole other series. I also need to give Stephen King another shot. The only one I read was Carrie and it was BORING.

I'm starting The Bronze Horseman tonight!

    Me Before You! *dances* *weeps*

    1. I didn't like Carrie, it was so snoozeworthy - the original movie was far scarier.

Eeeeee I'm scared when people read one of my favourites!

  7. I LOVE LOVE LOVE how you sorted your picks into different categories, Kat! Battle Royale is one of my favourite dystopias and I loved the movie nearly as much as I did the book. So gruesome but so good!

  8. I need to read This Is Not a Test soon! I have a copy but just need the time to get to it. I'm looking forward to getting a copy of Battle Royale as well, even more so now you've included it on your list!

    1. This Is Not a Test was amazing - Courtney Summers has excellent characters and it's not 'too zombie'.

  10. My suggestion for a horror read---The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks, one of very few books that still creeps me out just thinking about it, 8 years after I read it.

  12. Me Before You and The Bronze Horseman would have been on my list too! Another one that would have been on it would be The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley! Love that book!
