Showcase Sunday #32

Showcase Sunday is hosted by the fabulous Vicky at Books, Biscuits and Tea and is all about sharing our new books - beg, borrowed or bought.

In totally not-book-related news, yesterday I received a very unexpectedly fast letter from the Dutch Immigration department, informing me that my application for permanent residence has been APPROVED! Therefore I can stay, and also leave the country legally, huzzah! Now I can start planning my holiday to Australia properly!

Now, onto the book news!

Born of Illusion by Teri Brown (thanks to Balzer + Bray)
Orleans by Sherri L. Smith
That Time I Joined the Circus by J.J. Howard

Ebooks not shown
The Book of Broken Hearts by Sarah Ockler (thanks to SimonPulse)
Golden by Jessi Kirby (thanks to Simon & Schuster)
Right of Way by Lauren Barnholdt (thanks to SimonPulse)
The Uprising (The Forsaken #2) by Lisa M. Stasse (thanks to Simon & Schuster)

How was your week?  Anyone still getting snow?

  3. YAY, you've got it!!! I'm so glad they gave you permanent residence, Kat! :D I know all about it because I had to go through all this palava when I came to England, so I know how nerve-wracking it is. Hope you're celebrating with a nice boozy party! :D
I've got Born of Illusion as well, but I haven't started reading it. love the cover though! Hope it's like The Diviners by Libba Bray - it's one of my favorite time periods.
    Enjoy all your reads, sweetie!

    1. Thank you xx the stress is horrible - everyone says it will be fine but of course you think of the worst possible scenario (like being handcuffed and forced onto a plane!). We certainly had a few celebratory drinks last night ;)

I'm looking forward to reading it, yay for historical fiction!

  5. I'm dying to read Orleans! I didn't know it was written in dialect either. I really liked the way BRR and The Knife of Lever Letting Go were written, so hopefully Orleans will work out well. Oh my god, House of Leaves is ENORMOUS.

  10. I was approved for the egalley of That Time I Joined the Circus but stopped reading it to get a print version instead. So jealous of Orleans. I want to read it because it doesn't have romance but I didn't realize that it was written in dialect. I often can't follow them. Looking forward to what you think of it! I can't believe you read House of Leaves so fast! How fast do you read? CONGRATS on getting approved. That's awesome news!

    1. It's not heavy dialect like Blood Red Road, so I don't think it's going to be a huge issue.

I did have a day off to read HoL, otherwise it would have taken much longer.

      Thanks!

I didn't much care for That Time I Joined the Circus but I hope you do!

I will be reading Born of Illusion too at some point. I've heard great things about it. I also bought Orleans.

You didn't like Blood Red Road? WHAT????? BOOOOOO. LOL.

    Great stack this week!

    1. Thanks - my stress levels have gone waaaaay down now.

I KNOW! I should have loved Blood Red Road, but the dialect just killed it dead...maybe one day....
