Top Ten Tuesday: Beach Reads

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. I heart lists!

I'm definitely not the one reading chick-lit on the beach, and not even necessarily something light either.  From historical fiction to slasher horror, these are my Top Ten Books that I have actually read on a beach.  Or on an airplane to the beach ;)

Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin
The Bronze Horseman (The Bronze Horseman #1) by Paullina Simons
Morning Glory by LaVryle Spencer
Last Light (Afterlight #1) by Alex Scarrow
We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver
What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty
The Stand by Stephen King
Trapped (Afraid #2) by Jack Kilborn
The Silence of the Lambs (Hannibal Lecter #2) by Thomas Harris
The Love of My Life by Louise Douglas

What are your favourite beach reads?

  2. LOL man I love your list so much. hahahaha They are so not what would be considered "beach reads" normally but I love that they are for you! I guess you like to be scared when at the beach, nothing wrong with that!

    1. If I try and read 'fluffy' books at the beach, I end up falling asleep. Plus the fact that I find it funny to read about cannibals and serial killers whilst people are frolicking nearby ;)

  3. Hahaha, this is why I didn't do this week's list. My beach reads are whatever I want to read at the time, which could be anything. However, I currently want to punch The Bronze Horseman books in the face. Freaking Alexander is the worst, and Tatiana doesn't even care. UGHHHH.

    1. Yep, I'm not packing my suitcases with certain 'types' of books thats for sure.

You and Alexander are never going to be friends ;)

  4. I can't read on the beach at all. I'm either drawn to the water or I'm sleeping lol

I would probably read something more series though if I did. I like the fluffier books before bedtime :-)

    1. I read fluffy books when I'm ill and can't concentrate.

I like reading horror at the beach because they are quite easy to get back into if I'm distracted :-D

  7. "From historical fiction to slasher horror" haha not my typical choice of summer but I like it! Unfortunately I haven't read any of these books. I will work on correcting that. I do love historical fiction :D

  8. I love how seemingly random all of your choices are, Kat! Like you, I'm not the biggest fan of fluff and stuff and I prefer diversity with my genre choices. The Stand and The Silence of the Lambs are AMAZING picks!

    1. LOVED The Stand - I'm going to re-read it again in a few weeks when I'm on holidays.

I need to finish the Hannibal Lecter series, Thomas Harris is so good!

  9. Nice picks and I love The Stand any place, any where. While I will admit I will dive into a historical or contemporary romance on the beach a good psychological thriller will work perfectly as well.

  10. I've heard The Bronze Horseman is a great series, and I've been meaning to check it out since I first heard about it. I really want to read the Hannibal Lecter series as well, my friend has read them and loved them. Great list!
