Showcase Sunday #66

Showcase Sunday is hosted by the fabulous Vicky at Books, Biscuits and Tea and is all about sharing our new books - beg, borrowed or bought.

This week I received the most awesome Christmas present from my wonderful friend, Karin.

The Darkest Minds (The Darkest Minds #1) by Alexandra Bracken
She-Wolves by Helen Castor
You Are So Undead to Me (Megan Berry #1) by Stacey Jay
And POPCORN!  because I am obsessed with it - there's nothing I love more than curling up with a good book and a big bowl of salted popcorn.

Thank you Karin xxxx  I hope your present arrives soon!!

And then I had this ridiculous panic moment that I thought I didn't have enough books to choose from on my ereader for my holiday.  Which is completely ridiculous but I felt better afterwards ;-)

Ebooks Purchased
All That I Am by Anna Funder
The Mammoth Book of Apocalyptictic SF by Mike Ashley
The Righteous by Martin Gilbert
The Passing Bells (Passing Bells #1) by Phillip Rock
Life During Wartime by Lucius Shepard

The Detainee by Peter Liney
Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson

  1. I am so glad you like them all and I hope you'll enjoy them soon :)
I know this panic moment - happened to me too before I went to Australia in 2011. And having a lot to choose from is better than not being sure if you have enough. Oh we book lovers always have our little excuses, right?

I am definitely going to pick up Me Before You in 2014, I bought it earlier this year but kept putting off reading it, but I think it's a book that I'll really enjoy, and I'm looking forward to reading it. Cinder is one of my 2014 priorities too, I just never got round to it this year unfortunately. I'm hoping I'll get round to the Ashfall series next year too, especially as it's ending next year too.

I really loved Me Before You! It was one of only three books that I gave 5 stars this year -- and it made me cry too.

  21. You must read Two Boys Kissing - it's just *speechless*

  22. Yes! I don't have to feel like I'm the only one not to have read Cinder then ;)

  23. It took me ages to get it finished - but so much fun!

  24. Doesn't it?! I've been eyeing it off for ages!

  25. I didn't know if it would be my kind of book, but I trust Karin's judgement!

  26. Thanks Kristin! And sorry for the growing TBR ;)

  27. Sweet popcorn should be illegal. But at least then you don't have to share ;)

  28. Exactly, the more the better! And variety, must have variety!

  29. My boyfriend tells me it's an addiction. I'm forever buying it!

  30. I hope it's enough....no, must not buy more lol

I just got Shadow & Bone, Angelfall and World After for Christmas, I can't wait to read all of these, so I'm glad to see that you enjoyed them all. I am also planning to read all three of the Under the Never Sky series this year soon, I hope I enjoy them as much as you did.

Great answers :) My End of Year Survey.

  33. Love these - there are definitely a few recommendations that I'm going to be picking up!

    ReplyDelete
  34. YES!! I'm so glad that Into the Darkest Corner made your most thrilling read! It totally was excellent and you know how much I loved it myself - I'm still pushing it on people :D

I'm like you - not a huge contemp fan but I find myself reading more and more of it, and I've had Boys Kissing Boys on my wish list for quite some time, I think next time I'm in the mood for a contemp I'll check and see if it's available for download from my e-library!

Hope this year is as a good of year for reading as 2013 was! :D
