Life of a Blogger: Camping

Life of a Blogger is a weekly feature hosted by Jessi at Novel Heartbeat, which is all about what us bloggers do when we aren't blogging.

I had to join in this week, because the first thing I thought when I saw the topic was camping is HELL.  And NO.  In that order, and in size-72-red-bold-underlined-italics.

I HATE camping.  I tried it several times as a kid in my backyard and I'd always be back inside, in my own bed, before midnight (it did not help that on my last attempt I could hear Tasmanian Devils screaming in the bush near our tent).   And for me it holds absolutely no appeal to get down, dirty and uncomfortable with nature.

I am a complete, unashamed holiday snob - I won't stay in cheap-and-cheerful hotels or *shudders* hostels, and the idea of backpacking makes me want to just curl up in my bed and stare lovingly at my whole wardrobe full of clothes and pet my washing machine lovingly.  I will actually NOT take a holiday if I can't afford a luxury hotel. And I'm not ashamed of it either ;-)

  1. I've had a few bad camping experiences... >.< I've got to to admit, I'm sooo not a fan either. The Tasmanian devils would freak me out too, lol! We went for an outback expedition in late October...to the middle of freaking QLD. TOO HOT. TOO HOT.

  2. I've never camped before and to be honest, I don't think I'm fit for it, haha. I like to have some sort of luxury and I think I would be scared too. Sometimes you hear stories of people who go camping and how it turns out.. :p

  3. I just HAD to share my camping experiences with you. They will cement (if it's not already) the idea that camping is completely not for you... or anyone really! ;)

I am now an unashamed snob as well!

  6. Take my advice, don't do it ;) just stay in a night hotel with a bed, a bath and you know, a toilet!

  7. Oh man, that would be horrendous. Camping is bad enough, but when it's hot too? Yucky yuck!

  8. I haven't been camping since I was a kid either. I wouldn't say hell no to it but it would have to be a special situation in order for me to agree.
